Cleaner / Housekeeping Assistant – £19k


This is a wonderful opportunity to work within one of the UK’s top iconic organisations, which offers the opportunity of working in a beautiful village type setting within the centre of London. This post is working in a residential setting for the elderly, who may have various healthcare issues such as dementia etc but have very warm and friendly personalities, as indeed the team that work there have as well. It is a very friendly and supportive environment to work in and is frequently visited by various high profile visitors and guests.

The Cleaner / Housekeeping Assisting is responsible for ensuring that his/her area of responsibility is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. You will need to have some experience in Housekeeping as a Cleaner / Room Attendant and have the right to work in the UK, as well as have a friendly and hard working nature.


The post involves working 5 days out of 7 so will include weekends on a rolling rota basis
There are 2 shifts: 7am-3pm and 11am-7pm.
The contracted hours are inclusive of lunch breaks, which are also paid for
Location: Central London

The duties involved are to maintain a clean and healthy living environment in living environments and other designated areas.
Clean all floor areas and carpets in main walkways and communal areas
Ablution areas, shower rooms, tea points, sinks, floors and working surfaces to be cleaned twice daily.
The general cleaning of designated Wards, ensuring that:
Water jugs and beakers are kept clean and jugs filled with clean fresh water
Locker tops and bed tables are cleaned daily or more often if required
The floors of all rooms on the Ward are to be cleaned daily, vacuumed, mopped or polished as required depending on the surface
All furniture and beds are to be kept dust free and all cupboards and shelves are to be kept clean
All wash basins, other sanitary ware, walls and glass panels are to be kept clean and free of hand marks etc. Bed poles and lamps are to be dusted daily, and beds are to be moved and areas cleaned every other day
All ward furniture to be kept clean and polished
Assist with meal service to Residents, which will include but not be limited to:
The collection of the ward food service trolley from the Infirmary kitchen
The collection of all dirty crockery and cutlery and cleaning of these in the dishwasher in the Ward Kitchen Area
The cleaning of your food trolley in your Ward Kitchen Area and then returning it to the Infirmary Kitchen ready for the next meal
The cleaning of the Ward Dining Areas and setting up for the next meal. Ensuring that condiments are full and all other commodities are wiped down and clean
Fridges, microwave cookers and toasters are to be maintained in a hygienic condition by daily cleaning.
The daily exchange of sheets and bedding from accommodation rooms and other domestic linens with the Infirmary Storekeeper on a “dirty for clean” on a one for one basis.

Experience of working as a Cleaner / Room Attendant within a Care Home / Hospital / Hotel or similar
Aware of Health and Safety such as COSHH etc.
A friendly, caring personality
Punctual and reliable
The ability to carry out the duties using flexibility, initiative, co-operation and with the minimum of supervision
